First Post.

Well this is my first post of many. I felt compelled to start a blog because I'm passionate about music and the creation of music. I don't get hung up on technique or accepted ways of recording and I try to be as simplistic as possible when recording. My home studio is Logic Studio 8 based- I still run Tiger and probably will until my machine bricks or Apple completely and utterly stops supporting it. The majority of plug ins that I use are from Native Instruments and Spectrasonics.
I also use an Access Virus TI which I've had for approx 3 years and still haven't fully wrapped my head around. My setup is very simple- my Virus is my audio interface and I have no other external gear except my Roland SP-404 which I love to manipulate samples with. Most of the radical effects I use come from Kore2 and Logic. The name Ripple7 occurred to me one night on the way home from work. At the time my commute was a hour and 40 minutes and I was listening to "Speedlearn" by The Higher Intelligence Agency and processing the day. The song uses a lot of reverb and echo and reminds me of a pebble that's dropped into a completely still body of water and how just a little disturbance or "resonance" can completely change the surface of the water to point it's no longer able to reflect accurately whats above the water and you get this twisted often indiscernible image. That's the type of place I hope to take you to where the sound is so far from what it used to sound like and you can't distinguish it even though it sounds vaguely familiar.
